Make the class room rules/activities simple and clear.
The class room rules & activities need to be simple and easy to implement.
Prior intimation to be given to students and display it on the wall.
Be punctual to the class.
Have all the materials in handy.
Prior planning.
Activity based teaching .
Clear and simple teaching methods.
Make sure all the students are involved in the activities.
Provide accommodations for the needed one.
Set goals
Reward positive behaviours: Rewarding positive behaviour is eventually more effective in the long run. When these students receive positive response and rewards, they start to see that there is a positive advantage to good behaviour. They will then start to see you as more of a friend, and this will in turn motivate them to want to behave and do well in the classroom.
Give break up: While teaching give sufficient time to complete their assignment once completed allow them to stretch and go out for a break. This will allow them to burn off any excess energy that might have built up from sitting still for a long period of time.
Respect and treat every one equally: Students often do not answer very well to circumstances that appear partial to them. This can activate a flow of undesirable emotions and acting-out behaviour. If students feel they are not being treated fairly and with the same attention and respect as their peers, their behaviour will be affected. To ensure that you are treating all of your students in a constantly fair manner, don’t bend your traditional rules for any student. Apply the expected consequences every time, with every student. Permitting concessions opens you up to allegations of being unfair.
Motivation: The students who had a lot of undesirable experiences in the school lack the desire and motivation. It is the responsibility of the teacher to motivate and offer them incentives for academic successes, large and small. Celebrate their hard work, and praise their good efforts constantly. This can go a long way in giving these students the motivation to excel in the class.
Following these simple alternative strategies would definitely create a positive classroom which is a haven for both the teacher and students.
